On the occasion of the two-year anniversary to mark the historic success of North Macedonia as a NATO member, the Deputy Prime Minister in charge of European Affairs, Bojan Maricik emphasised the importance of our country’s membership in the NATO alliance.

“For two years, North Macedonia has been a stable, safe and dedicated NATO member, which is the fulfilment of one of our most important national priorities. The NATO membership represents “the same journey” as with the integration in the European Union; a journey which continuously provides reforms, human rights, individual freedoms and the rule of law. Together with our allies, we are ensuring our democracy, economic stability and growth, above all peace and mutual protection. In these very difficult times of military aggression on European soil, we have come to appreciate our NATO membership that much more and we are aware of the difference between being a part of NATO and being outside of NATO, as well as the benefits of allied tackling with global challenges.

By becoming a member of the Alliance, we have displayed our preparedness to participate in the joint defence system, confirming our active contribution towards peace and stability and together with our allies, we shall continue to fulfil the ideal of free Europe, a peaceful Europe”, said Deputy Prime Minister Maricik.
