The Deputy Prime Minister in charge of European Affairs, Bojan Maricik, said in today's radio show on "Kanal 77" that waiting for a new proposal is not in our favour because so far we have had proposals that were either completely acceptable for us and unacceptable for Bulgaria or vice versa .
On the issue of the Macedonian language and identity, Deputy Prime Minister Maricik emphasized that we have it in the international framework, we have solved it with the signing of the Prespa Agreement, on the basis of which it is written in our identity card in the United Nations.
- Anyone can say what they want, but what we have is a negotiation framework accepted and adopted by Bulgaria, with a protected Macedonian language and identity. It would really be a pity to lose a chance and an opportunity that we don't know if we will get it again after a few months or a few years. It is not good for us to be the topic of the elections in Bulgaria again, to open a space for discussion about our European future and to collect points on the Macedonian issue when we have a clean situation in our Macedonian language, for the first time in the history of our relations with Bulgaria, said Deputy Prime Minister Maricik.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that if we remain in the status quo and wait for some better times, if we decide not to accept it, we will remain with Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina, which have serious structural challenges onthe completion of their statehood.
- It is our choice in which group we want to belong and how we want to develop. Everyone is tired of waiting, but the European Union is our strategic focus. I have always said that when we are inside and we are in the process, it is different, we have a different political treatment, more opportunities, funds and it is easier to solve problems, Maricik pointed out in the show.
The Deputy Prime Minister added that we must be realistic that there are structures that have no good intentions to our country or the region and influence us with a tendency to remain isolated and without perspective, stressing that for this reason it is important to keep the country on the European path.
