Today, the Deputy Prime Minister in charge of European Affairs, Bojan Maricik, addressed the Economic Forum of Finance Think, emphasizing the importance of reforms and the benefits of the country's European integration process, focusing on the economy and economic development.
- Stable and democratic institutions are the starting point for economic development. The process of European integration is an essential factor for the successful transformation of the countries in the region. This process will give a strong impetus and new dynamics to the implementation of political and economic reforms, to reach European standards faster, said Maricik, emphasizing that the Union must be more courageous in terms of enlargement policy, which will inevitably lead to motivation and impulse, both for the citizens and the economy, but also for the civil society, to be more active, even in the business opportunities and the use of the European money for development of the economy.
Deputy Prime Minister Maricik stressed that not all standards can be achieved at the same time and that it takes time.
- That is why we need help in this process from both economic operators and the civil sector, because the closer we look at achieving the narrower interest in the short term, the harder it will be for us to implement real reforms for our integration into the common market, added Maricik.
Deputy Prime Minister Maricik spoke about the implementation of IPA and the programming for this and next year, as well as the priority set by the Government in the past 5 years, emphasizing that there is still much work to be done in improving the implementation, which will move in the direction of strengthening the economy in parallel with European integration.
